Day three. I’m good. Having more fun with this blog than thinking about not having sugar! I must admit I had another reason for starting the challenge was that I was hoping I might lose some of the weight that jumped on during the last Thankxgiving! I’ll try anything that sounds healthy!
Saw it and I totally agree! I weened myself off soda a few years ago and I feel much better! I still miss a cold Diet Coke/Pepsi once in a while though.
I think this is a great website and I’m going to become more aware of how much I eat sugar now!
Thank you for participating in National Sugar Awareness Week!
i do not think that i could survive five days without sugar
We understand! Refined sugar is usually not necessary for a healthy diet. In fact, it has no nutritional value at all. Read about one of our contributor’s experience as she takes the 5-day Challenge (she admittedly has a sugar weakness)!
I want to encourage you. But who am I? No one in particular-not a therapist or anything. I have learned not to shy away from challenges because even if I fail, they make me stronger and who cares if I fail or not? I don’t. I’ve learned something about myself either way. Soooo, just do it!
It is great to know about your daily diet, it actually makes you feel scared and worried. I should consider changing my diet!
Changing my diet about sugar will be hard but I think that I can do It !!!!!! It will be hard because sugar in in pretty much everything so I’m going to have to figure out what foods I need to cut back on, that have sugar in it But I’m up for the challenge …….
You are so right! That is one of the reasons for the National Sugar Awareness Week. Sugar is in almost all processed foods. Looking at the label can even be deceiving. Ingredients are list in the order of the amount in the product. So many labels will have several forms of sugar. If all the sugar ingredients were combined into one it would change the order of the ingredients. The best foods do not need labels (vegetables, fruit, etc.). Let us know what you become aware of with this challenge.
Yes, you’re right about some of the information being a bit scary. Check out our blog to read about one of our contributor’s experience as she takes the 5-day Challenge and see if she ends up changing her diet as a result of what she’s learned!
Day two. I had a little trepidation Sunday, the day before the kick off. I’m feeling good. I miss chocolate but not sugar.
Good for you Eydie! Please let us know what you are experiencing with the National Sugar Awareness Challenge throughout the week here!
I do not eat processed sugar. my quiz revealed I do not have an issue with sugar. But if there is any information that can educate me about natural sugars other than fruit, and honey, it would be appreciated.
You will get the best answers from a Registered Dietitian. The Sugar Awareness Challenge or any comments are not medical advice, but we will be sure to continue updating our site with information that can help you.Thank you for participating!
Actually the medical industry knows very little about healthy choices, I prefer blogs that speak about actual experiences.
It is amazing to discover how many processed foods have sugar in them. I didn’t know they put sugar in black pepper potato chips.
Wow! Thank you for the information.
O my! Sugar is in potato chips!? Who knew?!
What about if organic honey or agave is an ingredient? Say to my organic jam, peanut butter or quest bar for example? They’re naturally occurring, non processed foods, similar to the glucose occurring in fruit.
The naturally occurring sugars are ok in moderation usually. This is just a challenge so you can see how many products you eat have sugar in them. The Sugar Awareness Challenge can also help you see if you experience any changes in your energy, mood, mental clarity, physical symptoms or cravings during this time without eating sugar.
Thank you for your contribution and for helping other people stay informed! Just watched the video. Incredibly insightful!
